Cognition Services

Overview

With the rise of cognitive problems globally and particularly in our country, there is a growing need for tailored management strategies suited to our societal context. Our Cognition Services team comprises a diverse group of neurologists, neuropsychologists, nurses, and technicians who collaborate to provide comprehensive care for patients with cognitive disorders. Our primary goal is to deliver personalized patient care, encompassing accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, counseling, and, when necessary, multidisciplinary interventions. In alignment with our institutional mission, we are deeply involved in teaching, academic activities, and research aimed at advancing cognitive healthcare.

Diagnosis

Diagnosing cognitive disorders requires a detailed clinical evaluation and a variety of diagnostic tools. Recognizing that most existing tools are based on data from developed nations, we have adapted and continue to refine our systems to meet local requirements, considering various languages and patient backgrounds. Our approach includes comprehensive neuropsychological assessments, advanced imaging techniques such as MRI and PET scans, and laboratory tests to identify underlying causes. We ensure precise and individualized assessments to formulate the most effective treatment plans for our patients.

Cognitive Neurology
Multidisciplinary Approach to Treatment

Our cognition services thrive on a multidisciplinary approach, integrating the expertise of various specialists to provide holistic care. We collaborate closely with neuropsychologists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and rehabilitation specialists to address all aspects of cognitive health, ensuring comprehensive and cohesive patient care. Treatment of cognitive disorders is highly personalized and patient-centric. We develop tailored treatment plans that consider each patient’s unique circumstances and needs. Our treatment modalities include pharmacological interventions, cognitive rehabilitation, behavioral therapies, and lifestyle modifications.

Education

Teaching is fundamental to our mission of providing excellent healthcare. We have regular bedside and didactic teaching sessions for neurology residents and conduct programs to educate other specialties on improving care for patients with cognitive impairments. Additionally, we offer specialized programs in neuropsychology and cognitive rehabilitation.

Research

Research is essential to advancing our understanding and treatment of cognitive disorders. Our team is actively involved in research projects aimed at improving patient care and expanding knowledge in the field of cognitive health. We have developed testing programs specific to our country and society and are conducting research to enhance these further. We collaborate with the department of nuclear medicine to improve imaging diagnosis in various dementias and with neurochemistry to advance markers for dementia. By involving patients in exploring new treatment options and participating in clinical trials, we ensure our care is based on the latest scientific evidence.
